The school
St Margaret’s RC Primary School is a denominational school. It serves the Loanhead area of Midlothian and is located on a new shared campus with Loanhead Primary School and other partners. The roll was 40 when the inspection was carried out in June 2011. Children’s attendance was in line with the national average in 2009/2010.
Particular strengths of the school
- Relationships with parents to support children’s learning.
- Well-behaved, polite, children who are eager to learn.
- Caring and nurturing environment.
The following areas for improvement have been agreed with the school and education authority:
- Improve the curriculum by taking better account of the design principles of Curriculum for Excellence.
- Ensure tasks and activities meet the leaning needs of all children.
- Develop approaches to self-evaluation which lead to improvements in children’s learning and achievement.
