The Church tries to make provision for school Chaplaincy work wherever resources allow, recognising the significant spiritual, pastoral and liturgical needs of pupils, staff and parents.

School staff also make considerable efforts to support and develop Chaplaincy services, with support from local parish clergy, Dioceses.  In a few cases, non-ordained religious and lay people are involved in supporting Chaplaincy work in schools.

Report on Chaplaincy in Catholic Secondary Schools

The Catholic Education Commission published a report on Chaplaincy in Catholic Secondary Schools on 27th March 2009. 

The report is intended to promote discussion and action in schools, at parish and Deanery levels and in Dioceses to ensure that all the partners work and plan together to meet the needs of school communities.
