As part of this review, the Catholic Education Commission has worked in partnership with Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) - the Scottish Government's curriculum advisory body - to draft proposals for the teaching of Religious Education in Catholic schools.

LTS has published two documents offering guidance on the teaching of Religious Education in Catholic schools.  These are draft proposals on which comments are invited between June and December 2008. Therafter there will be further consideration prior to the publication of final guidance.

THIS IS OUR FAITH
The Catholic Education Commission is providing supplementary guidance to support teachers in their understanding of the draft outcomes and experiences which have been proposed.  This guidance provides information on Church teaching and advises on the kinds of learning and teaching approaches which are appropriate to communicating faith to young people.  This guidance, which is also in draft form, has been given the title 'This is our Faith'.

'This is our Faith' will be published in sections on this website over a period of time.  Each section can be downloaded by clicking below.

OTHER CHRISTIAN DENOMINATIONS
The Catholic Education Commission is seeking views on a proposal to include some particular outcomes which relate to teaching about the beliefs and practices of other Christian traditions.  These would provide specific opportunities for young people to understand and appreciate other traditions, an intention which is outlined in the introductory paper which accompanies the draft outcomes and experiences.

OFFERING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

Comments on any sections of 'This is Our Faith' should be made in writing to the Catholic Education Commission 75 Craigpark, Glasgow G31 2HD or by email.
