On Friday 17th September the Holy Father participated in a Big Assembly of children and young people at St Mary's University College in Twickenham.
A group of 140 Scottish pilgrims, with young people from every Diocese in Scotland, made the journey to join the Big Assembly in person. On Thursday 16th September, three coaches transported this group to Twickenham where they stayed overnight before attending the Big Assembly and then travelling home.

I too travelled to Twickenham with the young people of Scotland and i reckon that they all deserve to be publicly applauded for their positive attitude and their care of each other. We had a wonderful time, despite the length of the journey, and I thank them all for allowing me to be part of their pilgrimage. Thanks too to all who organized our trip!
I'd like to echo the comments by Mgr McCaffrey. As one of the staff involved in escorting our young representatives to the Big Assembly, I was most impressed by all the students . They were as big an inspiration to me as was the Holy Father himself. Our Church is in good hands!
Thanks to SCES for organising a wonderful experience for us. I was delighted to be part of the group and our young people were amazing. I was delighted to host the two young men from Inverness, representing Aberdeen diocese. What a credit they were to family and school and parishes.
Thank you to Pope Benedict for his marvellous trip to our land. We now look forward to the task of taking his message of hope and challenge to others with a renewed confidence. Bestwishes from all the staff and pupils of St Joseph's Primary Busby.
What a wonderful experience the whole school is buzzing, thanks to The Holy Father's inspiring visit to our lovely city. He even brought plenty of sunshine to keep us all smiling! We are looking forward to taking part in The Big Assembly as well.
Best wishes for the rest of his trip in the U.K. from the happy pupils and staff of St. Blane's, Blantyre
