Michael Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, visited Holy Family Primary in Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow, on 2nd February to see examples of good educational practice.

A recent HMIE inspection report described the provision at the school as 'outstanding' and also commended Holy Family for its parental and community partnerships.

Mr Russell met pupils and staff from the nursery class through to P7. This will include music and poems from the P6 class and a money management lessons with the P7's.

Commenting ahead of the visit, Mr Russell said: "Quite rightly, we have diversity and choice in our education system and Scotland's Catholic schools form a valued and important part of our educational landscape, enriching the options available for pupils and parents and providing firm foundations in learning and life.

"That is certainly the case at Holy Family Primary in Kirkintilloch, where the quality of education has been described by HMIE as outstanding."
