Why faith schools 'top the tables'

In a cynical age there is a tendency to look for hidden factors behind apparent success stories and the issue of "faith" schools fits neatly into that category.

Given that public education in this country was largely initiated by the churches, it is not surprising that faith schools play a large part in the structure of both primary and secondary education.
